The Carolina Horse Park is located in Hoke County less than 10 miles from Southern Pines and many of the horse farms in and around the Walthour-Moss Foundation. There are a number of homes and farms for sale in Hoke County very close to the Carolina Horse Park. From the area, it is just a short commute to Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall. The CHP was founded in 1998 by a group of local equestrians. It is the home of the annual Stoneybrook Steeplechase Race, held in April every year. The CHP is also host to numerous other shows throughout the year in multiple disciplines, including Dressage, Hunter/Jumpers and Driving.
The CHP has a world class eventing course in addition to several riding rings with wonderful footing. In the last several years, there have been several barns constructed on the property. When the CHP first opened, it got off to a slow start because there were no permanent stalls on the grounds – show participants had to stable their horses in temporary stalls. But the CHP and local residents continued to raise money to make improvements, which have included the barns.
